These two. My heart is so full writing this post. Kira and Eddie have such a special place in my heart, and I am so incredibly excited to finally share their Lost Gulch engagement session with you!

If you've been following along, you might actually recognize these two because their love story has been unfolding right here on this blog. I first met Kira while photographing headshots for Carbon Salon (and if you're looking for a new hair salon, go to Carbon! Seriously, the best). I had a stunning sequin dress I was dying to shoot again, so I asked Kira if she and her boyfriend would want to model for me. She said yes, and then a few days later I got a message from her boyfriend Eddie saying he wanted to propose during our photo shoot. I was SO excited! You can read all about their surprise proposal session here and see the moment it all unfolded!

Fast forward a few months, and I get an email from Kira saying they want me to photograph their wedding. In St. Lucia. I might have cried a little. Ok, I definitely cried. Getting to travel to St. Lucia is a dream come true on its own, but getting to spend it documenting the wedding of two people I already love so much? That is everything. So of course, we had to celebrate with an engagement session first!

Lost Gulch Overlook is one of my absolute favorite spots for a Boulder engagement session, and it did not disappoint. As a Boulder engagement photographer, I never get tired of that sweeping view! Perched high above Boulder with nothing but open sky and endless Colorado landscape in every direction, it has this incredible wild, windswept energy that I just cannot get enough of. The light up there does something truly special, especially in golden hour when it spills across the rocks and the valley below glows. It's dramatic and breathtaking without feeling overdone, which makes it the perfect canvas for capturing real, emotional moments between two people.

And with Kira and Eddie, those moments came so naturally. That's one of my favorite things about photographing a couple for the second time, there's already a level of trust and comfort there that makes everything feel easier and more relaxed. My process is always about creating space for couples to just be themselves, to forget the camera is there and just exist together. But when you already have that history and that connection built in, the images that come out of it are just on another level entirely. I could try to explain it, but honestly, I'll just let the photos do the talking.

Kira and Eddie, I feel so deeply honored that you keep trusting me with your memories. If we were able to create something this beautiful right here in Boulder, just imagine what we're going to do in St. Lucia.
