We (as in the wedding vendor community) spend so much time talking about the bride that sometimes it’s easy to forget there’s a whole other person involved in a wedding. There’s SO much info out there for brides, and I personally don’t think the groom gets enough attention. After all, this is his day too! So I put together this little groom style guide to help your man look his best on his wedding day.

– Buy instead of renting
Renting a tux can be super expensive, and sometimes not really worth it. Do you really want to pay $200 or more for a tux that doesn’t fit you right and has been worn by who knows how many people before you?? Buying a tailored suit or tux might cost more upfront (but not necessarily) and then you get to keep it for the rest of forever. You’ll be ready to go when you need a suit for the next formal occasion, plus you’ll look sooo much better in that suit that’s tailored just to you.

– Skip the traditions
I’m a big fan of giving tradition the middle finger, and I love seeing couples show off their personal style with their wedding attire. You don’t have to wear a traditional black tux or suit if you don’t want to. Navy suits have been really popular lately, and I personally love the way they look with just about any color palette! I’ve seen just about everything from brightly colored floral shirts under a linen jacket, to grey checkered suits and these grooms looked so comfortable and confident! You do you!

– Plan Ahead
I can’t tell you how many weddings I’ve photographed where the guys have literally no clue how to tie their ties, fold their pocket square or WTF those little extra little black buttons that come with their tux are for. So take like, 10 minutes and look up some YouTube videos to be sure you know what you’re doing so you look your best.
P.S. Those buttons should be used if you’re wearing a bow tie to make you look extra fancy. Leave em alone if you’re wearing a regular tie!
